Another uncommon mushroom. This mushroom forms a large cluster of fruit that can grow up to several kg in weight under ideal conditions. Can be grown on logs or sawdust substrate. The maitake is regarded as a pleasant edible mushroom, but it also has strong medicinal properties, especially useful in helping to fight or prevent cancer (particularly brain cancer).
