About medicinal mushrooms
The species in our medicinal range are grown mainly for traditional use rather than for cooking. A few, such as shiitake and maitake, are good to eat; tougher types such as reishi and turkey tail are usually simmered to make a tea.
Mushrooms like these have a long history in traditional Chinese practice, and several are the subject of ongoing scientific research. We sell spawn for growing them and make no health claims for them – if you are thinking of using them for health reasons, please speak to a doctor or pharmacist first.
Growing instructions come with each pack, and see storing spawn and dowels.
