9kg Chopped Straw - Half Bale

This is half of one of our chopped straw bales. We literally take a saw and saw the bale in half - so weight is only approximate, but we will cut it as accurately as we can.



Ideal as a bulk substrate for larger scale or commercial growing of mushrooms such oysters. Yields from chopped straw are generally much higher than for farm straw, as the central 'pith' of the straw stem is exposed and therefore available for mushroom utilisation.


This chopped straw is very uniform, and consistent from batch to batch - which is ideal for regular mushroom production. It's also very pure, with no noticeable impurities. The staw is also free of additives (Normally chopped straw has additives added to prevent fungal decomposition - which would obviously not be ideal for mushroom use!!).

We have tested this with oyster mushrooms and various speciality mushrooms and it works well.
