10 mushroom bags for sterile culture.

These bags are suitable for sterilisation in a pressure cooker or autoclave, being made from PP. (Just remember to make sure they are not touching the walls of the pressure vessel otherwise they could overheat - wrap in a tea towel if necessary).

They have a number of long filters across the width of the bag for good gas exchange and reliability. This ensures good gas exchange even to the bottom of the bag - avoiding the formation of an anaerobic zone at the base.

Intended for single-use, but can be reused a few times if you are careful with them.




Very interesting comment from one of our customers:

I bought a pack of your spawn bags on eBay. I have been pressure cooking them with pre-hydrated grain, and have been doing a few experiments with them to see how they work.

The last couple of bags I pressure cooked AFTER heat sealing them shut. To my surprise, the air filter strips are so numerous, that they easily let air escape. The trick was to put the bag in the PC and heating with the lid off, pushing down on it gently once the air in it had expanded (you can see air bubbling out from the filter strips). Once expansion had stopped, I sealed the pressure cooker and cooked as usual. Hey presto, super simple, and super sterile spawn bags.

Might be an idea to put this idea on your website/eBay listing (after you've tried it your self), due to the relative difficulty in acquiring pre-sealable mycobags in the UK. May up your sales, and if anything, will make the lives of other myceliumites a lot easier!
